Frequently Asked Questions
What is microblading/microshading?
A semi-permanent brow tattoo preformed with a small handheld tool, to produce the appearance of fuller eyebrows. This is a softer and more subtle cosmetic tattoo than some older methods. These pigments are designed to gently fade over time.

How long is the appointment?
Three hours on average. During your appointment, I will first consult with you to create the perfect shape and color for your eyebrows. The touch-up appointment will take approximately 1-1.5 hours.

How long will my new brows last?
The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will fade over time. Touchups are recommended every 1-2 years to maintain shape, color and detail. How often depends on a number of factors including: skin type (oily skin fades faster), pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster), sun exposure (can cause fading and discoloration of pigment) and use of anti-aging products (these products increase your cell turnover rate and will shorten the life of your cosmetic tattoo).
Is it painful?
Some clients may feel slight discomfort, but I do all that I can to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible. A topical anesthetic is applied throughout the procedure.

Are there any medical conditions that interfere with getting this treatment?
Pre-existing permanent makeup on eyebrows, pregnancy, diabetes, serious diseases such as cancer, epilepsy, autoimmune disorders (doctors note is required), circulatory disorders (doctors note is required), you're taking any blood-thinning medication, currently taking Accutane or other strong retinoids (must wait one year after treatment ends), you're recently received Botox (must wait two months post procedure).

What is the healing process like?
Newly tattooed eyebrows go through several phases as they heal. You must wait 3-4 weeks to see the true, healed color. Immediately after the procedure, the pigment will appear very dark - the pigment has not settled in completely. With time, the color will gradually soften. Once the healing of the skin starts, your skin may begin to flake or look very dry. Your brows will look patchy for several days, as different parts of the scab may fall off at different times. Remember, you must not pick at your skin as you will interfere with healing and the ultimate look of your brows. You may even worry that the color has faded too quickly, as your eyebrows will appear the lightest on days 5-12. However, skin cells push the color back to the upper layers and after this beginning period, you will finally be able to see your true color.

How many appointments do I need to achieve the final look?
A minimum of two appointments is needed, with approximately 6-8 weeks in between to allow your brows to heal. Most eyebrows will heal much lighter after the initial appointment. We will be able to adjust as needed/desired at your second session to darken the brows.
